Leilani LOVES Alicia :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WOMAN!

Rewind four years, when we were celebrating your 26th birthday and your successful first semester of law school with some crazy-awesome-bootie-shakin'. Ha, ha! You are amazing. You are a champion. Everything you do, you do with a beautiful intensity. You are courageous, passionate, genuine, powerful, generous, and gorgeous.

I admire your ability to focus on what, and who, you love. I echo Jenn, look at these beautiful blue eyes! For you, there's always somewhere new to explore and always a another fascinating person to meet. I really like this about you, because you've shared with me many of the places and people that have enriched my life.

Rewind ten years, (yeah, ten!) to when I first met you in Hawaii and I was in awe of this balance in your relaxed/intense personality. You have a gift of confidence! You were instantly accepting, and so ready for all the surf/beach/hiking trips, and dance parties, and hours (days?) in the library. When we visited Na Pali for Thanksgiving 2001, you let me wear your shoes because mine were awful, and I can't even remember what you ended up wearing?!! You gave me your shoes! Seriously?!

Just look at yourself laughing! Look at your smile! What a light! You have helped me, and loved me, during some very dark times and some very bright times. Your desire and ability to communicate, sincerely and openly, have been so needed and saving and I thank you.

Fast forward to the present, where we all need you and love you! I knew we'd miss our Hawaii-days, I knew we'd miss our Provo-days, and I do! You let me paint a tree with red and orange leaves on a wall in your house. You let me drive your car. You let me meet and adopt your entire family. You compliment my butt, ha ha. You encourage me, you hope for me, you are my friend.

All your heart and all your light and all your shape and all your mind and all your everything - I love you. I'm so happy Tucker loves you. I'm so happy you're sharing your life with little Weston now too.

You are a very important WOMAN in my life. Happiness!

From Chris

Each of these pictures has a story and you'll know it so I'm not going to spend precious Lars sleeping time describing them. But occasionally I find myself needing to look back to feel the excitement & spontaneity & wonder we had pulsing through us back then.

'99: 1st semester

'00: Buddha house days

'01 Getting ready to split ways

Sooooo many adventures we've had since we met in '99 and they have all been memorable. We have so much collective life together it's crazy. I guess that's why I consider you family because you were always there. Freshmen year in the dorms, our Sophmore Na Pali coast and Foodfest, Junior Thanksgiving in Kauai and meeting up in the red rocks for a summer of road tripping. Adventuring Big (Escalante & Turtle Falls) or Small ( Honolulu film festival) was just the way life was supposed to be.

Now we are married and have little boys. I love that Mike & Tucker get on and that we have already started to create more collective memories together as lil families. There is too much to say so in that you can know how much I love and appreciate you. Happy Birthday friend.

LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESH!

If I was allowed to choose a motto for your life it would be this:

I am Woman, hear me Roar!

Helen Reddy has nothing on you, lady. You work harder and play harder than anyone I know. You hike, climb, camp and practice law. You put all the “hardcore” boys to shame, and I LOVE IT!!!!!!. You care deeper, sacrifice, more, and listen longer. I cannot count the number of times your generosity has touched my life. THANK YOU for your time. THANK YOU for being my roommate (twice-how lucky am i?!!). THANK YOU for your listening ears, thoughtful words and generous heart. When I’m thirty I want to be just like you!

I wish we could gather around you and sing you beautiful songs, and tell you beautiful fortunes like we did on this night….

I wish we could turn up the karaoke and pretend (key word “PRETEND”) to have groov’n moves like Beyonce, like we did on this night……..

And I wish we could smell these gorgeous lei’s, feel the heat of the Hawaiian sun, and hug like we conquered the world, like we did in what feel now like another life….

Much love, aloha, and honour to you this day. Happy 30 years of life!

Alicia the Aunt

You have been there for them, you have been there for me. We are forever yours.

For Alicia

Alicia,
HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY!!! I am grateful to know you and to have you as my friend. Here are a few of my favorite memories with you:

About this time 8 years ago, it was 90 degrees outside and we walked and walked ("and walked!") in the heat to get to our first appointment with the Kheeroos. We had vegetables out of a can for Thanksgiving and went Christmas caroling and had a cake for your birthday made by the Elders. It was also when you challenged me to pray about attending BYU-Hawaii, and I'm so glad you did.

Because you were so great at the Commitment Pattern, we got to live in Hawaii together in the Buddha house, attending the BYUH 11th ward. We also regularly performed our "mission rap" for people.

You were there for some of my most important moments, like my graduation, and my wedding in the Detroit Temple.

I was so blessed to be there for your wedding as well and to see you so radiant and happy.
We got to pet alligators together!!! What a blast is was for you and Tucker to come and visit.

And now you're a MOM! I wish I had been there when little Weston was born and had a picture together....wait a minute!

You are one of the best friends I've ever had, and you always will be. We have been through so much together, and many of my best memories include you. You have had such a profound influence on my life, and the Lord knew that I needed a friend like you. I hope this year will be filled with blessings, and every year after this!

Tout mon amour,
-Kristen (aka Soeur Demps)
